Ombre Powder Brows FAQS
If you have a specific question or concern you are welcome to message through my Instagram or my phone number/ email to set up an appointment. I book enough time to discuss your needs and wants at the initial appointment. At the beginning of every appointment, there is a consultation and pre-draw portion where we both decide the shape and color that suits best.
Ombré powder is a semi-permanent makeup procedure creating a a misty, powdered look with a faded front and a crisp tail that is darker at the tails and lighter in the front. Ombre brows is for clients who are looking for the filled in, full makeup brow all the time or just want a little color for more natural eyebrows. Suitable for all skin types and those with minimal/no brow hair to full brow hair.
Microblading uses a handheld tool to create natural hair strokes throughout the brows to fill in any gaps you may have.
Ombre Powder Brows are achieved by creating layers of tiny dots in the skin with a cosmetic tattoo machine that uses a very fine needle that graces the skin back and forth while depositing color underneath the skin., The dots mimic a powdery effect, leaving you with a soft, filled in makeup look as when you fill in your own brows.
Semi-permanent makeup is NOT recommended for clients who are or have:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Chemotherapy/radiation
Skin conditions such as keloids, skin irritations or rashes near the site, etc
Viral infections or diseases, cold or flu
Botox within the last 1 month
Autoimmune disease
Used accutane in the past year
Diabetes, epilepsy
Please inform your artist if you have any allergies, medical conditions, or take any medications.
It lasts 2-3 years depending on your skin retention, the shade of choice, lifestyle, skin routines and how you care for it. Over time, the color will fade and become light.
It is unlike traditional tattooing, this procedure is done on the epidermis layer of the skin, thus making it less permanent.
A topical anesthetic will be used before and throughout the procedure. Everyone has a different level of sensitivity. It does vary person to person and every effort will be made to ensure you remain comfortable.
The healing process should take 10-14 days.
At day 2, your brows will appear darker but do not be alarmed this is expected. The color will lighten 20-30% when healed and will continue to fade over time.
At day 4-5, you can expect your brows to start flaking. During the flaking period, your brows will appear light and patchy but give it 2-4 weeks the color will even out and resurface.
Once your brows are done flaking, you can resume normal activities such as applying makeup, working out, etc. (EXCEPT certain activities listed in the aftercare) However to prolong the longevity of your brows, avoid aggressive washing and exfoliating of the brow and wear sunscreen when exposed to sunlight.
The process for ombré powder brows will begin with one hour of consultation to learn more about clients’ expectations. During this time, I will make recommendations and draw the best suitable shape for the clients face based on bone structure, hair flow, and symmetry of the clients face. I will shape your eyebrows so you get an idea of shape and form then we will decide on the color based on your skin tone and your natural brow hair. Once the shape has been approved by the client ( (ultimately it is your decision. – but I will always voice my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically), I will then proceed with the tattooing process. You will be numbed before and during the procedure with topical anesthetic to make sure you are comfortable the whole time. This process itself will take about 1.5 hours - 2 hours which includes numbing, outlining, shading, picture taking and also aftercare instructions.
Avoid any blood thinning medication day of treatment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen.
AVOID sun and tanning one week prior to your procedure.
Discontinue Glycolics, Retin-A or Retinol products 4 weeks before the scheduled appointment.
DO NOT use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to and after your procedure.
Do not consume ANY alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours prior your appointment. It will cause the skin to irritate and bleeding will reduce the pigment absorption as blood will push out the colors - resulting in poor color retention.
Do not wax, thread or tint your eyebrows one week before your procedure
No facials or chemical peels a week prior to the scheduled appointment.
Exfoliating is recommended on the brow area a week prior to the appointment for the skin to take in the pigment(s) easily during the procedure.
If you have anemia or low iron, please take an iron supplement prior to the procedure.
If you have reference photos, please show me so I can take into considerations for shape and color you desire.

Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to 14 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before I consider the process complete. During healing, it's normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place.
Touchup appointments can be scheduled in 6-8 weeks. It takes at least 4 weeks for the skin to heal
They should last you 2-3 years and you may return annually or bi-annually for a color reboost.
Your eyebrows are not 100% until the touch up. Ombre Powder Brows are a two step process. Brows will lighten by 30- 40 % after the initial session. Everyone heals differently and some might notice light and patchy areas after only one session. Touch ups are NOT included in the initial price and should be done between 6-10 weeks after the initial procedure. Touchup session is considered a perfection session to go over any spots that did not pick up the pigment well or if you would like to go darker/bigger etc.
Yes if it is faded by 50-70%. I require that anyone who has had their brows tattooed previously by another artist to text me a photo before booking. This way I can discuss your best options. If they are too dark, you will not be able to get the ombre effect and it may come out darker or block-y. It is best to get tattoo removal first. If the previous work has a tint of blue, green, grey or red in it then it will require a color correction. Color correction is needed to neutralize the undertones from the previous work to brown.
Oily skin clients tend to require touch-up earlier because of the oil production while dry skin clients are able to wait longer.
Laser treatments over the treated area (fraxel, laser, IPL) because it can destroy the pigments.
Smoking: smokers may notice that their semi permanent cosmetic will fade faster
Anemia and Iron Deficiency: your Brody will absorb these iron based pigments more quickly
Sun Exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading.
Age and Metabolism: The faster your metabolism the faster the pigment may fade.
Anti-aging or acne products on the brows (anything with Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, etc will speed up pigment fading.
sunbathing, solarbrium, light therapies, chemical peelings, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors. Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can speed pigment fading.
